The weather is getting slightly too cold for camping these days—but if you still want that feeling of unplugging your electronics and settling into the beautiful outdoors, we highly recommend booking a cottage or cabin at Refreshing Mountain Retreat Center! Rejuvenate your relationship with both nature and your family/friends.

Refreshing Mountain’s newly built family-style cabins provide a clean, restful, and wholesome opportunity to get away with your entire family or friend group. All you have to worry about is relaxing and having fun. You can take a hike on their woodland grounds with gorgeous overlooks or enjoy togetherness around a campfire. If you’re feeling especially adventurous, add one or more of their outdoor adventure activities to your cabin rental—canopy zipline tours, horse rides, or the farm animal experience! They even offer a special discount for this combination.

The cottage cabins are fully furnished, sleep up to 8 people in 2 bedrooms (1 queen bed and 4 bunk beds), have a private bathroom, a living room, and a kitchen. Every cabin is heated for your comfort (and has AC in the summer, too.)

Bonus: All pricing includes WiFi, linens, and towels. There are also meeting spaces in select cabins.

Each Cabin Rental Includes:

  • 2 bedrooms (1 queen bed, 4 bunks)
  • Sleeps up to 8 people
  • Private bathroom
  • Living room area with fold-out futon
  • Kitchen with electric range (no oven), microwave, and refrigerator/freezer

“Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.” —Albert Einstein

Refreshing Mountain was founded in the early 1980s as a place for families to feel refreshed. Marlin and Sharon Harnish originally started out with two bunk houses and a stable where a horse camp used to stand. Currently, Refreshing Mountain hosts hundreds of groups and thousands of individuals each year.

Refreshing Mountain offers several types of packages to enrich lives of visitors and fulfill their innate sense of curiosity and connection with themselves, animals, and nature. Through their Farm Animal Experience, guests will experience a close-up and hands-on experience to explore some common (or not so common) farm animals such as horses, ponies, goats, alpacas, chickens, pigs, and more! Your group will learn how to safely handle and interact with these animals and you’ll even have the chance to pet, brush, or feed them. Ideal for ages five to fifteen years old, each session is guided by a qualified staff person.

Hannah Harnish, Refreshing Mountain’s Equine Programming Coordinator, gave Things To Do Lancaster a general overview of their Discover Package during an interview:

Marlin and Sharon Harnish originally started out with two bunk houses and a stable where a horse camp used to stand. Marlin says he would have never been able to grasp the concept of Refreshing Mountain today when he first started, but he just took one step at a time, and this is where it has led thus far.

Refreshing Mountain offers several types of packages to enrich lives of visitors and fulfill their innate sense of curiosity and connection with themselves, animals, and nature. Through their Discovery Package, guests will experience a perfect mix of nature exploration and outdoor fun. The Discovery Package includes 25- to 30-minute sessions of each activity, including a Hands-On Reptile Exhibit, GPS Nature Hunt, Sling Shots, and Archery Target Shooting. A staff member leads guests throughout the entire program. The Discovery Package is perfect for smaller families!

Refreshing Mountain also offers very exciting School Field Trips under the “Nature Education Package,” which gives the option to come and experience our nature programs curriculum and equine program to larger groups.

Close your eyes….

Imagine you are stuck in a room full of extraordinary puzzles… and passcodes…  keys and secrets… You’ve been placed there with a seemingly impossible task, and it’s up to you and your closest comrades to solve the mystery together. The kicker? You’ve only got one hour to do it! This is the type of fast-paced bonding experience you will have at the ever-exciting “Escape. on Queen!” Escape. on Queen offers three types of rooms. Two are meant for young and adult players, and the other—Shipwrecked—is perfect for young kids. Each room is based off of rich, local history!

September 1777—ages 12+

Its September 1777 and we are in the midst of the Revolutionary War; things are taking a turn for the worse. Help George Ross and his niece, Betsy, save our nation and its flag. Can you find the flag and send it westward to safety with the Continental Congress before the Loyalist intercept it? You have 1 hour to rescue the flag before the British arrive at the Ross residence. Good luck, be brave and be quick.

The Hideout—ages 12+

The year is 1950.  Families are growing, the economy is booming, and America is as strong as it’s ever been.  But somewhere across the Lancaster countryside a fearless newlywed couple has been accused of one of the most well-crafted and elaborately planned robberies the state has ever seen. Betty, a bank teller, and Paul the unassuming customer have made off with more cash than imaginable. They’ve been dubbed the “Banker Bandits” and now it’s your job to find them. You’ll have 1 hour to search their latest presumed “Hideout,” the Hess barn located amongst crops and cattle. Good luck and hurry up……

BOOK THE HIDEOUT NOW!

Shipwrecked—ages 6 to 12
A swashbuckling band of children overtook the Scarlett Lydia and have been plundering the seas and terrifying travelers for years. In the midst of a strong gale the Captain of the ship was ruthlessly tossed overboard and the pint sized pirates have run the Scarlett Lydia aground in a jungle lagoon.  They have one hour to unlock the captain’s quarters and find their way into the safety before the jungle creatures come out.

Shipwrecked is coming along slowly but surely!

In addition to their invigorating escape rooms, they also have a party room in the back of the building—it includes tables and chairs for baby/wedding showers, birthday parties, and other special events! Placing their emphasis on all things local, they try to use catering services from places like Prince Street cafe to keep it as Lancaster County based as possible.

So… are you ready to ESCAPE? Book your adventure now!

The chill is coming, and it’s time to bundle up the most precious of all: our children!

Bellaboo is stocked and ready in both their physical store and online! Bellaboo is a huge fan of Obermeyer Ski Clothing and Outerwear, and they are fully stocked with everything from snowsuits, to jackets, to gloves, to hats, and scarves. Obermeyer was established in 1947 when Klaus Obermeyer made his first ever ski parka—and they have been committed to innovation, technology, and quality ever since. Nowadays, Obermeyer produces some of the most high-tech ski clothing known to man. Bellaboo stands behind this brand and their quality products! With Obermeyer clothing and outerwear, your children will forget they’re cold—they’ll be able to focus on snowball fights, building igloos, and sledding through the fluffy snow.

Bellaboo, both in the shop and online, features Obermeyer’s sleekest and colorful designs for kids, and in multiple color options.

Obermeyer Snoverall Pant
Made of 100% polyster mini-twill with HydroBlock waterproof breathable lamination and DuroGuard DWR, these precious snoveralls will keep your child warm and comfortable out in the blustery snow. They have reinforced seat and knees, a reflective zipper pull, and fleece-lined hand warming pockets, too! Other features include: reinforced inseams/hems, double layer reinforcement, “I-Grow”™ Extended Wear System, an elastic waistband, heavy-duty YKK zippers, and water-resistant powder cuffs.
Available in four (4) colors, sizes 1 through 8.

Obermeyer Averee Knit Hat
How cute is this hat? Not only is this 100% chunky knit acrylic hat aesthetically pleasing, it’s also fully microfleece-lined. A little pom-pom finishes off this adorable hat! Fact: children lose more heat through their head than adults, so it’s very important to keep their noggins nice and warm!

Obermeyer Gauntlet Gloves
These gloves come in sizes X-Small to Medium. With a reinforced palm, thumb, a zippered heater pack pocket, and even an integrated nose wipe (!!), these are an essential to keep your little one warm while they build their glorious snow castles. The integrated heater pouch pocket allows you to add chemically enhanced heat packets, which are a must on cold days. These gloves are lined with highly breathable microfleece fabric, which is used to create a quick reacting breathable lining while carrying the thermal advantages of fleece insulation.

Obermeyer Trina Jacket
The Trina jacket uses exclusive HydroBlock® Sport 10,000mm waterproof/breathable technology. It has a removable hood, shaped seams for fit, and premium insulation to assure ultimate warmth. This jacket also features the exclusive ‘I-Grow’™ Extended Wear System, which has built-in technology to increase sleeve length by 1 ½ inches. Comes in sizes 2, 3, 4, 5, and 8!

These are just a FEW of the incredible Obermeyer brand products that Bellaboo carries.
